The Off Grid Eagle mascot: a bald eagle in olive field gear and boots, holding an American flag on a mountain ridge at sunrise
Meet our mascot, the Off Grid Eagle. He stands for the site: calm, prepared, and proud of where he lives.

The Off Grid Eagle helps American households get ready for the bad days: the ice storm that takes the power for a week, the boil-water notice, the evacuation order with thirty minutes’ warning.

We read the spec sheets, the official guidance and the independent tests so you don’t have to, then we name a few products and say plainly who should skip each one. No doomsday talk, no fear-selling. Being ready is a responsibility, not a hobby of panic.

The Off Grid Eagle is independently owned. Brands can’t pay for inclusion.

The Off Grid Eagle editors

“The Off Grid Eagle editors” is the byline on our guides and checklists. The editors build research-based guides from manufacturer documentation, official preparedness guidance (Ready.gov, the CDC, the FCC, the American Red Cross) and independent published tests, and they are responsible for corrections. We do not conduct hands-on or laboratory testing. For editorial questions or corrections, contact theoffgrideagle@gmail.com.
